How to Vote

Not really Iron, am I?
I acknowledge that this blog may be (temporarily) mis-titled. I am not, in fact, made of iron. ...yet. There are still 7 weeks until my first Ironman race. Backing-up a few atomic numbers from Iron makes me Potassium.  So this week you can call me Potassium Chad.

Voting for Dummies
We're only a few weeks away from election day, and here in Arizona we've got some tough choices. Local elections have a LOT more effect on your life than national elections. For that fact, it's important that you're informed on these local measures. Below I go through some of the ballot measures and tell you how to vote.

This blog is so 2005
Prop 109 - Make hunting and fishing a constitutional right
Here's one I can get behind. I love me some meat. I love fish, too. If the Sierra Club is mad, you know it's gotta be a good law.  Vote yes.

Prop 112 - Make it harder to raise ballot measures
This is the opposite of wishing for more wishes. Essentially, this is voting for less votes. I am into this one, big time. Vote yes.

Prop 302 - Terminates early childhood development
I have a kid, she's adorable. I never liked the idea of a state worker "developing" her. Maybe with the savings we won't have to fire cops or something. Can you tell I'm getting tired of reviewing these? Vote yes.

Prop 203 - Medical marijuana
I'm curious to see how this plays out in Arizona. A lot of states have medical weed, and it's been a lot of fun. Arizona used to be a libertarian state, but lately it's become increasingly socially conservative. If we open the door to more weed, it'll give the kids something to do other than smoking meth at the skate park. Vote yes, it'll be hilarious.

I miss him already
Prop 106 - Ban requirement of health insurance
Healthcare is a hot topic. Regardless of how you feel about it, you have to admit that the state probably can't do anything to fight the feds on this. Why waste my tax money then? Vote no.

Prop 110 - Authorize the state to sell land without auction
BORING! Vote no.

Prop 111 - Change "Secretary of State" to "Lt. Governor"
Seriously? This is the F2 proposition. This also means that the Lt. Gov will run on the Gov's ticket, and that they will be the same party. This sounds like a trap. Vote no.

Can America elect a fat guy?
Prop 107 - End affirmative action in state hiring
This is one of many props that is advertised the same way by BOTH sides. Both sides say that they follow the spirit of Dr. King. Both are full of shit. Teach them a all lesson and don't vote at all on this one.

Prop 113 - Secret ballots for unions
I don't want to have my thumbs cut off, so I'm not touching this one. If you know what's good for you, you'll skip this one as well. Don't vote either way.

Faithful readers, what say you on this election? Do you have a favorite ballot measure you're excited about?

I vote based on which signs I see on the side of the road. I like to make the people who put all of those signs out feel like they didn't waste their time.

I'm with you on the auctions though. Those things are just FUN!

106 - No.
107 - No.
109 - NO. Puts Govt in charge of Hunting and Fishing, not Game & Fish Dept. You already have the right to hunt and fish anyway. Its a power grab.
110 - Yes. Requires voter approval to exchange state trust land. More power to people
111 - No.
112 - Yes. More power to people
113 - Blah
203 - Blah
301 & 302 - No. Govt is bankrupt, why let them take money from programs we voted FOR in 2006 so they can balance their overspending. If they would take the $500 million tax dollars and give them back to us(Taxpayers), then I would be all for cancelling programs. But they are just going to piss the money away on things we did NOT already vote for.

I love this shit!

Okay, pretty much agree with you on everyone, except Healthcare - This will help to hold up the implementation until 2012 - when we change Presidents. It will be key to delay the economic albatross that is ObamaCare so that it can be repealed. As more info comes out this thing is just getting worse and worse.

Also, I say let the teamster vote in secrecy. There are a lot of union employees who are conservative but vote with the liberal leadership because of the fear of being outed for voting against them. This is a great way to rip the useless job killer labor union apart from the inside. Think about it.

Jeff almost brought a tear to my eye when he said, and I quote "in 2012 when we change presidents" There really is a chance for "hope and change."
